As the election takes center stage, Americans want to know what issues will take precedence for the White House and the new Congress. On November 16, BPC hosted an event to learn what leading pollsters and policy experts are hearing on the future of health care from the Hill, White House, and American public.

On November 13, BPC hosted a panel discussion on the benefits of telehealth during the pandemic and what the future holds for telehealth in Maine and throughout the country. Sen. Angus King (I-ME) moderated the panel which aired live on C-SPAN 2.

New Content from BPC:

BPC will recognize National Rural Health Day this Thursday by promoting how technology can better improve access to care in rural communities. COVID-19 has led to an increase in the use of telehealth, pushing Congress to reduce regulatory barriers to these services. In rural communities, these services have been critical to receiving adequate care long before the pandemic started. BPC’s Rural Health Task Force released a report earlier this year, Confronting Rural America’s Health Care Crisis, that includes recommendations to expand telehealth services permanently in rural areas and increase access to broadband.

This week’s episode features BPC Senior Vice President Bill Hoagland who discusses the case before the Supreme Court that challenges the Affordable Care Act.

BPC Research Analyst Eleni Salyers discusses whose health could be impacted if the Supreme Court overturns the ACA, which began oral arguments on November 10.

Upcoming Events:

During the week of December 7-11, BPC will host a Solutions Summit and roll out a Working Families’ Agenda focused on: 1) Promoting Financial Resilience and Wealth Creation; 2) Supporting Work and Expanding Opportunity; and 3) Helping Children and Families. The closing session will focus on racial equity. Confirmed speakers include Gov. Asa Hutchinson, Smithsonian Institution Sec. Lonnie Bunch, former HUD Sec. Julian Castro, former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, and Dr. Leana Wen. Register Now.
