Are you a community advocate or identify as a LGBTQI2S youth?

Egale Canada is inviting you to register for Speak OUT: Hackathona collaborative 4-day virtual event inviting service workers and LGBTQI2S youth from across the province to work together in “hacking” solutions in supportive programming for LGBTQI2S youth experiencing dating violence. Join us on January 28/29 and February 4/5, 2021!

As the second of three parts, Speak OUT: Hackathon will take the original findings from the 2019-20 Speak OUT Survey, which found that:

  • 61% of youth said they did not seek help from anyone after facing dating violence
  • 16% of youth had never been in a healthy relationship

Egale will work with the team selected by the judges to bring their ideas to action! The selected team will also be invited to participate in an advisory committee as we consult with community experts in building an intervention pilot program that we will implement at 5 organizations across Ontario.

Speak OUT: Hackathon will include:

  • Up to $5,000 in Prizes!
  • Interactive Workshops
  • Collaborative-Team Building
  • Networking Opportunities
  • A contest judged by a panel of experts and community partners!
