Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris prepare to take office in January,
leaders of NAFCU's award-winning advocacy team discussed credit union priorities
with members of the Biden-Harris transition team.
NAFCU, PA CUs meet with Sen. Toomey
Senior members of NAFCU's award-winning advocacy team Tuesday were joined
by a group of member credit unions from Pennsylvania for a teleconference meeting
with Senate Banking Committee Member Pat Toomey, R-Pa. While Toomey has announced
that he will not be seeking re-election in 2022, it has been reported that he
is likely to be named the next chair of the committee should Republicans keep
control of the chamber for the 117th congressional session.

trades flag issues with PPP loan necessity questionnaires
NAFCU joined
with dozens of trade groups Tuesday to caution the Small Business Administration
(SBA), Treasury Department, and lawmakers on the burdens "loan necessity"
questionnaires could have on paycheck protection program (PPP) lenders and borrowers.

provides insights into NCUA's CECL, DEI efforts
NCUA Chairman
Rodney Hood Tuesday spoke during the Women in Housing and Finance's public
policy event and provided updates on several initiatives under way at the agency,
as well as key risks credit unions should keep top of mind. NAFCU Senior Regulatory

to SBA: PPP forgiveness process needs improvements
NAFCU's Kaley
Schafer, in a letter to the Small Business Administration (SBA) Tuesday, recommended
ways the paycheck protection program (PPP) loan forgiveness process could be improved
and urged the SBA to provide lenders and borrowers' a longer period to respond to PPP loan review requests.

updates fee calculator after NCUA outlines 2021 OTR
Following the NCUA's
release last week of its proposed 2021 and 2022 budgets, NAFCU has updated its
online calculator to help member credit unions calculate and compare the respective
dollar amounts for annual operating fees.

planning and the lessons learned amid the coronavirus pandemic to help credit
unions implement plans moving forward. In addition, attendees will discuss considerations
and potential actions to take during the record levels of deposit growth experienced in 2020.
Retail
sales slow in October; NAFCU expects activity to remain 'fairly' steady
Total retail sales slowed in October, rising 0.3 percent following a 1.6 percent
increase the previous month. Of note, the outsized September gains were revised down 0.3 percentage points.
