The webinar has these specific goals:
* To review and discuss the impact of Covid-19 on women’s rights and the impact on the ability to exercise their SRH rights access to SRHR services during the pandemic.
* To reflect on ICPD commitments versus actions, accountability to promises, and what unique opportunities were presented by the Covid-19 pandemic.
* To cross-examine the role that men and boys can play in contribution to the AU Saleema campaign to end FGM.

And it will cover these topics:
* Emerging trends and promising practices on FGM across the world
+ Medicalisation
+ Cross border FGM practice
+ FGM practice in the diaspora
* Action and Accountability in relation to ICPD commitments, barrier and opportunities to women and Girls ability to exercise their sexual reproductive health and rights
* The role of religious leaders in ending FGM
* Engaging men and boys in ending FGM as contribution to the AU Saleema campaign.

The panel will be co-moderated by Dr Joyce Omwoha, Lecturer & Chair-Department of Journalism & Media Studies, Technical University of Kenya (TU-K) and Paul Osayande, Chairperson of MenEngage Nigeria:


** Our confirmed panellists are:

Dr. Muna Abdullah is a Health System Specialist working for UNFPA East and Southern Africa Regional office.

She will speak on ICPD commitments and impact of C-19 on SRHR.

Robert Kasenene works for the African Union Commission Department of Social Affairs. He will speak on the Saleema campaign to end FGM.

Dr Tammary Esho works for Amref Health Africa. She will speak on Emerging trends of FGM Medicalisation.

Fatima Awil, Policy & Advocacy Officer for the End FGM European Network. She will speak on FGM in the diaspora.

Nicholas Songok, Manager of planning, policy and strategy at Kenya anti-FGM Board. He will speak on Cross-border FGM and the impact of C-19 on FGM trends.

Sheik Tawfiq is a Moslem scholar who has worked towards ending harmful practices in Tarime, Tanzania. He will speak on the role of religious leaders in ending FGM.
