[1]Real Justice
The work we do isn’t easy,
John.
It can be draining waking up every day to more stories and headlines about
our racist criminal justice system. It’s clear there’s a lot of work we
need to do to bring REAL JUSTICE to all of our communities.
But today, I want to share with you a powerful example of our hard work
paying off. Ever since we helped elect Larry Krasner as the District
Attorney of Philadelphia — he’s been showing us what’s possible when we
elect people-focused DA’s.
But we’re not the only ones who've noticed the reform revolution that
Larry is leading. His bold leadership has made him the target of police
unions, Republican PACs, and anti-reform groups that are already planning
on spending millions to prevent his reelection.
[ [link removed] ]When you’re done reading about the progressive reform initiatives
Larry’s helped pass in office and the impact he’s made on Philadelphia’s
justice system, will you chip in
$5
or anything you can to make sure we keep Larry in office?

When Larry first ran in 2018, he promised a criminal justice revolution.
Since then, Larry has exceeded expectations and has brought sweeping
reforms to Philadelphia.
* Up until that point, I’ve never seen a District Attorney release a
bold plan like this document upon entering office that underlines
concrete steps to end the cycle of mass incarceration and police
brutality.

* In his memo, he rolled out a series of directives to seek shorter
sentences, divert low-level offenses from the justice system, end
prosecuting marijuana possession, and charge crimes at a lower level.
* He released a list of 29 officers from the Philadelphia Police
Department that were on a “do-not-call list” — meaning that they were
so tainted that they should be considered unreliable as witnesses.
* He joined forces with two other District Attorneys to launch The
Truth, Justice, and Reconciliation Commission — a nationwide project
that creates a process to fight for people who have been wronged by
police violence, and overzealous prosecutors by prosecutors, by cycles
and systems, and by this country.
* When Trump’s goons were literally kidnapping protestors off the
streets of Portland and threatening to go into more cities, Larry
threw down the gauntlet to protect Philadelphians' right to protest in
support of Black Lives. On national television he proclaimed. “Anyone,
including federal law enforcement, who unlawfully assaults and kidnaps
people will face criminal charges from my office. At trial, they will
face a Philadelphia jury.”
And that’s only the beginning of what Larry has accomplished so far. I
remember when they said he was totally unelectable. A radical. In reality,
he's just someone who knows our justice system well and can see how
backward most status quo policies are.
Because of his tremendous success, everyone from Trump, police unions, and
anti-reform groups has been working to undermine Larry. They know his
office represents a threat to the establishment, especially if he wins
re-election this year.
[ [link removed] ]It’s going to take a wave of folks like you,
John, showing your support
for Larry to make sure he stays in office. Giving even just $5 makes a big
difference in helping Larry’s campaign fight against these attacks.
Let’s GO!
Shaun
