For the past decade, millions of Americans have been living under Republican minority rule. How did that happen?

- First, the GOP rode a wave of dark money in 2010 to win control of state governments across the country.
- Then, Republican lawmakers used their power to draw maps that would virtually guarantee they would win the majority of elections, even when they only won a minority of votes.
- Now, nearly a quarter of all Americans live in a state where Republicans earned a minority of votes but won a majority of legislative seats.

That's why, in 2017, Attorney General Eric Holder started the NDRC to fight back against the GOP's extreme agenda of voter suppression and map manipulation. We've developed a four-pronged strategy for ending the Republican Party's stranglehold on our democracy: litigation to protect the redistricting process, mobilization to pressure elected officials during redistricting, reform to make redistricting a non-partisan exercise, and elections to ensure Democrats win a seat at the table.

For now, the elections influencing the redistricting process are over, which means our litigation, mobilization, and reform strategies are even more important. It's time to put pressure on legislators to ensure that redistricting is carried out fairly, and we must be prepared to fight in court if necessary.
