Friend,

It's been two weeks since Election Day.

There's still so much work to do, but we know this: Joe Biden will be our next president, and Kamala Harris will be our next vice president. And that fills me with a deep sense of relief and pride.

Relief because under their leadership, I know we can get our country back on track. They're committed to tackling COVID and bringing relief to the American people as well as clear guidance on the path forward. They've set a bold plan to tackle climate change, criminal justice reform, and economic recovery. I know that we will truly build back better.

Pride because this election made history: More Americans voted this year than in the past century, and Joe Biden won the presidency with a historic popular vote margin. But the American people not only elected Joe Biden; they made history by electing the first female, the first Black American, the first Asian American, as our next vice president -- Kamala Harris. It's a strong repudiation of the divisiveness and rhetoric of Donald Trump and an embrace of leadership that reflects what our country looks like.

On a personal note, I got into politics four years ago because of Donald Trump's election. I never imagined running for office, but the fear and hate stoked by Donald Trump motivated me to get off the sidelines -- and four years later, I believe we've reset the course of our country once again. But I also thought of my daughters and what I wanted to see for them and young women across our country. With the election of Kamala Harris as our next vice president, I'm again heartened and optimistic for the future of this country for all our daughters, mothers, sisters, wives, and friends.

I am proud that the American people voted for optimism over fear. I'm optimistic about our country's future, and the Biden-Harris Administration's commitment to build back better. There's work to do -- plenty of it -- but I'm ready. Are you?

Join me in committing to build our country back better alongside Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as our next president and vice president -- add your name next to mine right now.

Thank you,

Dean Phillips
