Hi John,
We're in the middle of Transgender Awareness Week, where Advocates for Youth needs your help in celebrating the power of trans youth activism and resilience.
Whether you're in the middle of transitioning yourself, or your friend is non-binary, or you're an ally who's outraged that anyone would be discriminated against for their gender identity, it's important we all take action this week to raise the visibility of transgender people and address the issues they face. Here's what you can do...
Highlight Trans Youth Activists
We're highlighting some transgender members of our Youth Activist Network all week with audiograms for you to share. Can you share the two we've posted already?
- On Instagram, tap the paper airplane to share these two audiograms in your story: Miles from Bradford, PA; and Jaden from Clarksville, TN
- Or if Twitter is your preferred medium, then retweet Miles' story here, or retweet Jaden's story here
- Finally, Facebook may be filled with "Fake News," but if that's where most of your friends and family are, share our "My Friend is Transgender" video here, or share Miles' story here, or Jaden's story here.
Create Safer Spaces for LGBTQ Youth
Today, we're excited to launch a new toolkit for folks working in education, healthcare, and community-based organizations on how to ensure LGBTQ youth are protected and feel accepted and secure in your space.
Download the new Safer Spaces Toolkit here. Then send that link to any friends who work with young people.
Instagram Live this Friday
Finally, we’ll be hosting an Instagram live featuring Nashville-based YouthResource activist Maxine Spencer and Dominique Morgan, a Black trans woman, community activist, educator, organizer, musician, and the Executive Director of Black and Pink. Black and Pink is a United States prison abolitionist organization supporting LGBTQ prisoners and those living with HIV.
In solidarity,
