The Center for Reproductive Rights

Dear team,

Dozens of abortion-rights cases are steps away from the U.S. Supreme Court, and one is already at its doorstep. Mississippi is asking the Supreme Court to review its 15-week abortion ban, which the Center for Reproductive Rights successfully blocked in the lower courts as unconstitutional under Roe v. Wade.

The stakes are far too high for us to back down. That's why a group of longtime Center supporters has pledged to match any gift made through December 31 dollar for dollar, up to $125,000, to help us continue this critical work.

We're ready to defend the right to abortion again at the Supreme Court, but we need to know you’re with us. Make a tax-deductible gift right now and your contribution will go TWICE as far in fighting back against dangerous laws like this one.

DOUBLE MY IMPACT

This case is just one of many we've litigated against the state of Mississippi. In fact, earlier this year, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit blocked a Mississippi law banning abortion at an even earlier point in pregnancy—just six weeks, before many people even know they're pregnant.

Abortion is already incredibly difficult to access in the state, with only one clinic and countless hurdles facing pregnant patients including:

  • A requirement that a pregnant person make two in-person trips to the clinic and delay their abortion at least 24 hours after the first visit,
  • State-mandated biased counseling for patients,
  • A medically unnecessary and onerous regulatory scheme that applies only to abortion providers,
  • A ban on the use of telemedicine for abortion care, and
  • A law that restricts the provision of abortion to physicians only andbars other qualified clinicians from providing abortion.

Despite relentless attempts by Mississippi and other states, the right to legal abortion remains the law of the land—and we will keep fighting to ensure it stays that way. Make a gift of $35 or more right now and it will go TWICE as far to take laws like this one all the way up to the Supreme Court if necessary.

Onward,

Center for Reproductive Rights
