Dear JOhn,

What are you doing on 3rd December? If you’re free, would you like to join Margaret Atwood, Jameela Jamil, Marissa Tomei, Rob Reiner, Alicia Vikander, Karamo Brown, Jane Fonda, Kate Hudson and many others as they celebrate women’s rights activists, reflect on the fight for gender equality as well as what 2021 and beyond could look like for women and girls. Expect laughter, tears and a feeling of hope during Equality Now’s Make Equality Reality 2020 Virtual Global Gala. <[link removed]>

The gala is going online this year, for obvious reasons. It’s different to how we would normally do things (what is normal this year?!) but excitingly it means everyone can join in. It doesn’t matter where you live, you don’t have to travel and you’ll get a front row seat. If you can't make it on the night, you can view the gala anytime after it airs via our YouTube channel.

Each year, the gala raises money to support our team of human rights lawyers who protect and promote the rights of women and girls in the U.S. and around the world. This year the gala is crucial. The work has increased whilst our income has decreased, as the pandemic has chipped away at the safety and rights of women and girls, as well as funding.

But hope is on the horizon in 2021. We have an opportunity to define a new and inclusive future that we must not let slip by. We are determined to make gender equality steadfast, to build back equal so women’s rights cannot be trampled on by political trends or pandemics. How will we do that? By legislating for it - making laws gender equal. Enter stage left, Equality Now, our partners and you.

Join us on December 3rd to celebrate what we can accomplish together. Throughout this special night, you’ll hear from feminist icons, celebrity activists, survivors and incredible members of our community who fight for equal rights for women and girls around the world.

Registration is free <[link removed]>, but we hope you’ll consider making a donation to support Equality Now’s mission to make equality a reality for women and girls everywhere.

In solidarity,

Emma Thompson

Director of Communications
