BACON NAMED TO NDAA CONFERENCE COMMITTEE FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Congressman Don Bacon (NE-02) was named by the House of Representatives as a conferee to the fiscal year (FY) 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) conference committee. A conference committee resolves the differences between Senate and House versions of the same bill, and this is Rep. Bacon’s third consecutive appointment. Rep. Bacon previously served on the FY18 and FY19 NDAA conference committees.

“I want to thank Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy for selecting me as a conferee to the NDAA conference committee. This is an important step in the legislative process and one of Congress’ most important constitutional responsibilities,” said Rep. Bacon. “The NDAA provides the blueprint for the Department of Defense and our service members as they defend our national interests and democratic values around the globe. I am grateful for the opportunity to offer my previous military experience to ensure our servicemembers have the resources and authorities they need to defend America and our way of life. The House NDAA includes dozens of my legislative priorities that restore readiness and prioritize the needs of military members and their families. I look forward to working with my Senate colleagues on this bill and having the president sign it into law.”

“Rep. Bacon’s experience as a retired general officer and a senior military commander make him a trusted voice on defense and national security matters,” said Rep. Mac Thornberry Ranking Republican of the House Armed Services Committee. “The armed services committee relies on his judgement and I am grateful he was again named to the conference committee for this important legislation.”
