Dear Friend,

This August, two siblings—one just a toddler, the other elementary-school aged—attempted to cross the U.S.-Mexico border for the fifth time to seek protection and reunify with family in the United States. Under the pretext of COVID, DHS repeatedly denied their entry without asking any questions about what brought them here. Instead, DHS returned them to Mexico where they were vulnerable to exploitation and violence. For months we worked with their grandmother, who was desperate to bring them to her home in the U.S. and care for them. After four attempts and advocacy by the Young Center in collaboration with family attorneys, the children were allowed into the country to seek protection.

They are the exception.

Since March, the government has turned away tens of thousands of children at our borders. At the Young Center, we've used word of mouth to find as many children as we can, whether they were sent back to Mexico or kept in hotels before the government attempted to deport them. We advocated for the children to exercise their legal right to seek protection. Despite our continued advocacy, the government has no plans to stop returning children to danger. But we continue to fight—on the Hill, in courtrooms, and wherever else the children need us.

Please join us. Help immigrant children find safety by participating in #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving on Tuesday, December 1st. This year, up to $25,000 of your donations will be matched by an anonymous Young Center supporter.

Help us unlock this matching gift by making your donation today. ([link removed])
