Library Services during National Lockdown

In line with government guidelines, all Nottingham City Libraries are temporarily closed for general use. Key reminders:

  • You can still borrow eBooks, eMagazines and eNewspapers.
  • You won't be charged any overdue fines for the period that libraries are closed.
  • You will not need to renew any items you have borrowed as your loans have been automatically renewed.
  • You will not be able to reserve books, but you can still browse our online catalogue and save books to your account to reserve for when libraries re-open.

Click and Collect: new service launched

Click and Collect image

Our library buildings may be closed temporarily but you can still borrow items using our new聽Click and Collect聽service.

Request up to 24 books including children鈥檚 books, fiction, large print, non-fiction and spoken word from any of the libraries taking part in Click and Collect.

Just let us know what type of books you would like and how many and our staff will put together a collection that you can collect safely at an allocated time.

Click and Collect is available during lockdown and delivered to you聽in line with both government and public health guidelines.

Over 1,000 little reader's have cast their vote in this year's Children's Book Award, but there is still time to add your vote and help crown this year's winner!

Voting closes Saturday 5 December and the winner will be announced on Friday 12聽December.

After School Club

Between聽November and Christmas, every Monday after school at 4pm, we'll have a special online performance or activity for you to enjoy at home.

From footy quizzes to numbers fun children won't even know they're learning something new!

Need access to a PC?

Under new COVID-19 national lockdown guidelines, all computers accessed via the library聽are for essential use only, and must be booked in advance.聽

If you don't have access to a computer at home and need one for essential use then do get in touch.

Essential use can be related, for example, to job seeking, applying for benefits, getting support, or personal contact.

Free Creative Writing Courses

We are working in partnership with Writing East Midlands to bring聽Nottingham City residents the opportunity to take part in an online creative writing course that you can enjoy at your own pace - all for free thanks to Arts Council England funding.

Delivered via video and led by writer, poet, film maker and educator Ioney Smallhorne topics include: specificity, capturing taste, smell and sounds, poetry and writing limericks, and how to successfully show and not tell.

In addition to these videos author and freelance writer Andrew Graves presents an introduction to writing non-fiction features and getting your work published.聽

Andrew Graves regularly performs his work throughout the UK and has appeared on TV and radio. He has performed alongside Henry Normal, John Hegley and Sleaford Mods.

New Online Exhibition: R.I.P. Patchworks by聽Mikl贸s Lad谩nyi-T贸th聽

View a series of portraits of famous rock and pop icons who died in 2016 and 2017, previously exhibited at the Nottingham Central Library in August 2018 and Brigitte Bordeaux, January 2020.

Mikl贸s's works聽are about transparency and patterns.聽 The appearance of his paintings and ceramics reflects the visibility of recent objects of popular culture.聽 These pictures are all acrylic on canvas and were painted with a special technique which affects the surface of the paintings.
