John -- Media sources have clearly indicated a President-Elect Joe Biden cabinet will be packed with centrist politicians, corporate executives and other members of the wealthy elite.

Progressives had hoped for the appointment of leaders like Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, or Ed Markey to key cabinet positions surrounding the environment, commerce, or education. Instead, the names floated for cabinet picks are a nod to the status quo.

For Secretary of Commerce, former Republican gubernatorial candidate and CEO of Ebay, Meg Whitman was named as a high possibility. Susan Rice (former war-hawk) and Chris Coons (funded by millions in defense donations), have been floated as picks for Secretary of State.

Much of the messaging coming out of the incoming Administration focuses on “working across the aisle” and touts the corporatist policies of the past. Although the election of Joe Biden is better than that of his predecessor, we must hold him accountable.

As long as millions are without healthcare; millions are on the verge of being unhoused, children are in cages and families separated; we must continue to demand immediate policies and real resolutions.

We deserve a Brand New Congress that will hold the Executive Branch accountable. That’s why we are working hard to start our nomination process for 2022.
