John,

My daughter, Avani, was 11 years old when she first met Kamala Harris. Avani and then-District Attorney Harris immediately bonded and shared a moment of laughter talking about being Black and Indian and balancing their two cultures. Afterward she turned to me and said, “I like her, she’s just like me!”

Now, she gets to watch someone who looks like her serve as the Vice President of the United States.

My daughter, Avani, now 22, and me.

Thinking about it still brings tears to my eyes. Vice President-elect Kamala Harris shows little girls across the country how powerful women can be— and she is the gun violence prevention champion that our country needs.

Kamala Harris’s vice presidency is a victory for my daughter, for me, and for the country. And we worked hard for this victory,John. Grassroots activists across the country joined Brady’s Voting Access Saves Lives initiative to ensure that communities that are most affected by everyday gun violence were able to make their voices heard at the polls. Dedicated volunteers in key states like Nevada, Virginia, and Ohio advocated for expanded vote-by-mail and early voting— and we won’t stop fighting now.

Brady is ready to work with Vice President-elect Kamala Harris and the Biden administration and enact life-saving change in their first 100 days in office. Our ambitious and comprehensive plan lays out exactly how the Biden administration can use executive action to enhance and strengthen the Brady Background Check System, reinstate the Assault Weapons Ban, and make other critically important steps toward a safer nation.

So I’m personally asking, John Will you endorse Brady’s 100 Days of Action plan for the Biden-Harris administration so we can pass common-sense gun safety reforms, save lives, and finally end America’s gun violence epidemic? >>

I cannot wait to see what Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will do for our country—and how she will continue to inspire my daughter, my family, and so many more Americans. Our reach and ability to create change depends on you, John, so thanks for everything you do to help this cause.

In solidarity,
