** Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and Michael H. Sussman Sue New York State on Behalf of Families to Stop the Repeal of the Religious Exemption to Vaccines

Albany, NY—Attorneys Michael H. Sussman and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. filed a lawsuit on July 10, 2019, in New York State (NYS) Supreme Court arguing that the NYS legislature’s June 13, 2019 repeal of the religious exemption to vaccination, violates both state and federal law. And, the repeal of this longstanding religious right, without a single public hearing, unreasonably interferes with religious freedom.

The plaintiffs, 55 NYS families who held lawful religious exemptions, request that the court enjoin the enactment of the repeal temporarily, preliminarily and permanently. The lawsuit intends to benefit all New Yorkers and not just the 55 families.

UPDATE: Judge Mackey rendered his decision today rejecting the families’ request for a temporary restraining order. While this decision is a set-back, it isn’t the final decision. The case will move forward with more decisions to come. There will be a preliminary injunction hearing in the near future. ** RFK, Jr. and CHD Bring Legal Action Against Beech-Nut Nutrition Company Concerning Misrepresentation That Their Naturals Baby Foods are 100% Natural

Washington, DC—Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Chairman and Chief Legal Counsel for Children’s Health Defense (CHD), filed a lawsuit July 9, 2019, against Beech-Nut Nutrition Company. The complaint, filed in Washington, DC, asserts that Beech-Nut’s material misrepresentations and omissions violate the District of Columbia Consumer Protection Procedures Act because comprehensive test results show Beech-Nut Naturals line of baby foods contain residues of synthetic pesticides including glyphosate, acetamiprid and captan.

** The Autism Blame Game: This Time, It’s the Womb

In the 1950s, autism—rare at the time—was attributed to emotionally distant mothering. Now, as the condition (now known as autism spectrum disorder-ASD) began attaining epidemic proportions researchers turned their attention to other theories.

One of the narratives to gain recent prominence is that autism begins in the womb. Although what happens during pregnancy can have significant consequences for brain and behavior throughout the remainder of the lifespan, its media proponents seem to be using it more as a smokescreen, to make it easier to ignore the preponderance of regressive autism cases, and environmental exposures such as the overuse of childhood vaccines containing toxins like aluminum and glyphosate.

** California SB276 Update

The California Assembly Appropriations Committee moved SB276, a bill that would remove most medical exemptions to vaccination, to the Suspense file where it will sit with no further action until the end of August. If it comes out of Suspense, it will go back to the Senate Floor.

Californians, please write the Assembly Appropriations Committee to let them know this bill is too expensive and continue to contact your representatives. Let them know that NO on SB276 does not make them anti-vaccine, it makes them pro-health, pro-child, pro-doctor, and pro-privacy.


** State Chapters for CHD

CHD has received several inquiries regarding the establishment of state chapters. While this is in our three year plan, it is not something that we are implementing on a national basis at this time.

We are presently working with CHD members in New York State to create our first flagship chapter which we will officially announce later this year. This is a big undertaking for our organization therefore we want to be sure we have the infrastructure and resources in place for our members. We have not selected leadership, nor are we moving forward at this time with any other state chapters of CHD.

** AFM Still a "Bit of a Mystery" Amid Peak Season For Polio-Like Illness

There's a new government warning about acute flaccid myelitis, or AFM, a serious polio-like illness that mainly strikes young children. The CDC says there are now 11 confirmed cases in eight states, and more are expected. The U.S. is entering peak season for the disease. Last year's outbreak, which can cause paralysis and life-threatening breathing problems, infected 233 patients.

** My Feelings About the Vaccine Debate

...[M]y primary area of interest is cardiovascular disease, which a big and complex subject, where anyone questioning the ‘conventional’ ideas gets ruthlessly attacked. However, in comparison to the area of vaccination, the battles in cardiovascular disease pale into insignificance. Mere squabbles in the nursery.

I am a member of an on-line doctors’ community in the UK called Doctors Net. Not open to the public. Whenever any story about vaccination emerges, the vitriol, anger and naked rage is quite scary to observe.
