 Act to stop home demolitions by Israel & the spread of COVID19 in Gaza
Dear Supporter, This year, you’ve helped generate signatures on two critical letters from Congress to the State Department about the West Bank and Gaza. One of them, protesting Israel’s demolition of Palestinian homes, was sent in March and signed by 64 Representatives. The other, sent in October, signed by 38 Representatives, called on Secretary Pompeo to release urgently needed humanitarian funds to Gaza during the surge of COVID-19 infections.
Alarmingly, the State Department hasn’t responded to Congress about either.
Disturbed by this lack of transparency and action, we’ve been working with Congressman Pocan’s office on a third letter, demanding answers to the first two. So far, we have 28 additional Members of Congress who signed the letter.
Here is what you can do today: first, ask your Representative to sign onto Rep Pocan’s letter to the Department of State (and thank them if they did that already!), then RSVP to our Facebook event with Rep Pocan this Friday, November 20, at 10:30 am EST.
The issues raised in each letter are critically urgent. Just this month, around 63 Palestinians, including 41 children, were made homeless when Israel demolished their homes in Khirbet Humsa. The UN called the Israeli actions a "grave breach" of international law. In past weeks, the number of COVID cases in Gaza has skyrocketed.

Our hard work pushed Congress to send these letters to the State Department, but by ignoring them, the executive branch is acting as if checks and balances don’t apply to it. They’ll continue to do so with impunity unless we turn up the heat. Thank you for taking action. In solidarity,
