John—
Each day that the Senate fails to act on gun safety, an average of 100 Americans are shot and killed and hundreds more are wounded.
It's been over 200 days since the House passed common-sense gun safety legislation requiring background checks on all gun sales, but the Senate has yet to vote on it or any other gun safety bills.
That's why Senate Democrats have announced that they will be holding the Senate floor tonight to urge action to end gun violence. They know that the solution to our nation's gun violence crisis includes strengthening our nation's lax gun laws. We need background checks on all gun sales and a strong Red Flag law, both of which are supported by the overwhelming majority of Americans.
It's time for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to listen to the people of the United States and call a floor vote on these lifesaving gun safety measures. Call your Senators and support this call for stronger gun laws now.
We're grateful for the Senators who are taking a stand for gun safety tonight, and we're grateful for you being a part of this movement.
