Let's Get VITA Fully Funded in 2021!
Last week, the Senate Appropriations Committee released its draft 2021 spending bill, which calls for $30 million in funding for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. This amount represents the max funding allowed under the VITA Permanence Act and delivers a huge victory for VITA advocates across the country! In addition, earlier this year, the House approved a $28 million funding proposal for VITA in 2021.
While this is great news, and a critical step in the funding process for next year, we can’t stop until the $30 million proposal is passed in both chambers. Please take a moment to contact your Representative and Senators and let them know how much this program means to your community and urge them to support VITA at $30 million in the final FY21 budget.
