November 16, 2020 | DR. JORDAN B. PETERSON

This video clip is from an unreleased lecture titled "A heaven worth striving for" that will be available on YouTube, later this week.

The sense of meaning is actually an instinct. It is not a second-order consequence of thought. It is way deeper than that. It is an extraordinarily profound instinct.

The fact that an instinct at this depth exists, is as good an indication that there could be, that there is something truly real about it.

Affective Neuroscience

Jaak Panksepp

One of the best books on the neuroscience of emotion is Jaak Panksepp’s "Affective Neuroscience: The Foundations of Human and Animal Emotions.” The book includes chapters on sleep and arousal, pleasure and fear systems, the sources of rage and anger, the neural control of sexuality, as well as the more subtle emotions related to maternal care, social loss, and playfulness.

This book is graspable, creative, deep, informed, and personal.
