Hi John,
We’ve reached a
critical point in our campaign for a stronger climate law and I’ll be honest, we’ve got some urgent work to do (take action now by
signing up here and then keep reading to find out more about our plan).
Ireland's draft new climate law is being examined by TDs at the moment - and they’re about to make big decisions on it. The draft law has some worrying loopholes - we hope they can be closed - but a lot still hangs in the balance.
Now more than ever, it’s crucial that TDs hear from their constituents. That’s why we’re working with people like you across the country to organise some of the biggest online actions yet!
This week: We urgently need people from certain constituencies to take action.
Do you live in Dublin Bay North, Fingal, Louth, Cork South West, Dún Laoghaire, Clare, Meath East, Kildare North, Dublin South Central, Wicklow or Limerick City?
If you do, then you’ve got a TD who sits on the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Climate Action (JOCCA). This committee is making some critical decisions on the Climate Law this week. And we need to make sure they make the right ones for climate action! Will you help us to do this by joining an online call-a-thon this Tuesday or Thursday?
I’ll join a call-a-thon tomorrow at 1pm to put pressure on my TD
I'll join a call-a-thon on Thursday at 5pm to put pressure on my TD
We'll give you some tips and advice, talking points and support. Then we will all talk to our TDs together. We’ll make it fun!
Next month - Save the date for our Mass Lobby
On the 7th of December we’ll be doing more TD lobbying on a massive scale, hosting an online TD lobby day with hundreds of people like you.
You’ll be able to talk to TDs from your own constituency on zoom - with other climate activists from your area.
Will you save the date in your diary today? And
add it to your google calendar if you have one?
Save the Mass Lobby date in your google calendar
The more pressure we put on TDs, the more likely they are to do the right thing! This climate law is one of the most important pieces of climate legislation ever to go through the Dáil. And whether it’s good or bad for climate action could be determined by constituents like you.
I'll join the call-a-thon tomorrow at 1pm
I'll join the call-a-thon on Thursday at 5pm
In hope,
Aine
P.S Would you like to be involved in organising things for the Mass Lobby on the 7th of December? There is a
kick-off event tonight where you can meet others in your area and get involved at a deeper level.
