As President-elect Biden campaigned for the White House, progressive voices were clear – fight hard to elect him, and then keep up the pressure for Medicare for All and an end to our endless wars. Now, we’re staying true to our word.
That’s happening because we know these issues have a popular mandate. According to exit polls from Fox News, Medicare for All and powerful action on climate change are overwhelmingly popular. Economic issues like a $15 minimum wage won in Florida, even while Democrats lost the top of the ballot.
These are not just policies that help deep blue districts. Increasing access to health care and investing in clean, green tech jobs helps folks in the Midwest, in the South, and in Rural America just as much as it would help folks in San Francisco or New York.
Is everyone on board with these policies yet? No, not quite. Our democracy is complex. There are differences of opinion. But we can bridge this divide by going into the communities who will be helped by these policies, defeating Republican disinformation, and uniting folks under the common cause of a more equitable nation.
Thanks for everything. None of our victories last cycle would have been possible without your support, and nothing we can achieve in the future can happen without you either.
In solidarity,
Ro
