[[link removed]]Dear John,
Last week, the U.S. officially left the Paris Climate Agreement. The good news
is, President-Elect Joe Biden has promised to rejoin it on the first day of his
presidency. But that won’t be enough to prevent climate chaos. Tell President-Elect Biden to take strong climate action.
The president-elect and vice president-elect campaigned on the promise to tackle
the climate emergency. Biden’s pledge to rejoin the Paris Agreement is a
symbolic step in the right direction.
But we have less than a decade left to avert the worst impacts of the climate
crisis. Symbolism is necessary but very far from sufficient. We need your help
to push Biden to go further.
Tell President-Elect Joe Biden to take actionable steps to protect our
environment.
The people who elected Joe Biden -- and the people of the world -- deserve far
more than a “we’re back” statement. It’s time for Biden to put his money where
his mouth is and show true climate leadership.
As the U.S. rejoins the Paris Agreement, the Biden-Harris Administration must be
clear in its intention to lead the world in a managed decline of fossil fuels.
Our new leaders must line up U.S. climate action with our country’s
disproportionate responsibility for causing the climate crisis and our capacity
to act. That includes devising and implementing measures based on science,
justice, and equity to keep global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
We need your help, John, to demand the United States do
more!
Demand the United States take the necessary steps to address the climate crisis.
The climate crisis is the existential fight of our time -- and the clock is
ticking. President-Elect Joe Biden will serve at least 4 of the 10 years
remaining when scientists tell us strong action is necessary to avert the worst
impacts of the climate crisis. After that, it may be too late.
Our communities, wild places, wildlife, and environment remain vulnerable to the
worst impacts of climate change. There’s no excuse -- it’s time for
President-Elect Joe Biden to step up. As the world’s largest historical producer
of climate-disrupting emissions, it is time to act.
Sign now to tell Joe Biden that we need real climate leadership.
