After a decisive victory, President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris are ready to get to work fighting for American families. They’re ready to implement their plan to fight COVID-19, address the economic crisis head on, fight for our troops and veteran families, and begin healing our nation after years of division. But, there’s a significant hold up.

President Trump has refused to concede and his Republican allies are continuing to do his bidding. Trump-appointed GSA administrator, Emily Murphy, has refused to allow Biden’s team access to funds, federal agencies, and critical classified information required by law, effectively halting the transition process.

That means President-elect Biden’s transition team will lack critical national security information and won’t be able to coordinate with landing teams at agencies like DOD and the VA — putting our security, troops, and veterans at risk. That’s just plain wrong.

Folks — to say this is a bad time to play petty politics is a serious understatement. We are facing a pandemic that will soon claim over 250,000 lives, our troops are still in a war and in combat operations around the world, and there are still tens of thousands of unfilled jobs at the VA.

Delaying this transition process to appease Donald Trump, who has demonstrated time and time again that he has no respect for rule of law or democratic institutions, is dangerous and irresponsible. It’s on us to fight for what’s right.
