This Is Prodigal Prayer Emphasis Week!

A few weeks ago, AFA released its new, original, feature-length documentary from American Family Studios titled, In His Image: Delighting in God’s Plan for Gender and Sexuality. In the short amount of time since the free, online showing of the film launched, I am excited to share with you that more than 102,000 people have registered to watch, with over 320,000 plays! And 11,494 have financially partnered with AFA to share the redemptive hope of the gospel presented in In His Image. Those of you who partner with us financially will receive a DVD of the full film, now shipping!

Because so many of you who have watched the film have requested prayer for prodigal family members and friends, we are designating this upcoming week of November 16-20 as Prodigal Prayer Emphasis Week at AFA and AFR (American Family Radio Network). If you or someone you love is wrestling with same-sex attraction, transgenderism, or other issues of sexual brokenness, prayer is the first step. Our prayer team would be honored to pray over your request which can be submitted HERE. One translation of Ephesians 1:18 (The Voice) says it in this way: "Open the eyes of their hearts, and let the light of your truth flood in." That's what prodigals need. That's what we all need.

In His Image features the story of Laura Perry, who was once a prodigal. Although she was raised in a Christian home, Laura become convinced she was “supposed to be male.” She walked away from her godly upbringing and began pursuing hormones, surgery, and a new life as "Jake." Eventually, she become depressed and tired of the lies. But God had certainly not forgotten her and neither had her praying mother. Francine Perry thought her world would crumble when her daughter Laura came out as transgendered. But after many years of fasting and praying and through a painful process of surrendering her own life fully to God, Francine witnessed a miracle! Her daughter returned home and into the arms of Jesus! Inspired by the radical transformation in Laura's life, Francine and the ladies in her Bible study felt compelled to begin praying for other prodigal children who had walked away from the Lord. That’s when they started the Prodigal Prayer Box and the results were explosive and life-changing. I believe every church needs a Prodigal Prayer Box.
