The Center for Reproductive Rights

Dear team,

Since 2017, I have spoken with more than 250 women and girls in internally displaced persons camps and host communities in Nigeria, where more than two million people have been forced to live since Boko Haram insurgents first invaded the country over a decade ago.

I've listened as they detail the layers of abuse, violence, and loss they have suffered as a result of this conflict. I've documented their experiences because it is in places of conflict that women and girls are most vulnerable to extreme violations of their sexual and reproductive rights.

Alongside our local partners, the Center for Reproductive Rights is aiming to break the cycle of trauma for women and girls who have been displaced in conflict zones. But critical work like this cannot continue without your support.

That's why a group of longtime Center supporters has pledged to match any gift made through December 31 dollar for dollar, up to $125,000. Please make a donation of $35 or more right now and your gift will be DOUBLED to protect reproductive rights around the world.

DOUBLE MY IMPACT

After rigorous fieldwork, documentation, and on-the-ground interviews, we released a report earlier this year showing that women and girls affected by conflict are particularly vulnerable to sexual and gender-based violence. They are also at greater risk of other violations of their sexual and reproductive health and rights, including mistreatment while seeking maternity care in health facilities and maternal deaths.

A pervasive lack of accountability by the Nigerian government, as well as by national and international actors coordinating the humanitarian response, has led to systemic violations of sexual and reproductive health and rights.

This report is the culmination of many years of work in Nigeria—work that has been sustained by the generous support of people like you. Please take advantage of this opportunity to make DOUBLE the impact in protecting the rights of women and girls everywhere by making a tax-deductible gift today.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Sincerely,

Onyema Afulukwe
Senior Counsel, Africa
