1. RESULTS OF THE LOCAL POLICE MEASURES ON THE NOVEMBER BALLOT

Following the killing of George Floyd on May 25, cities and counties introduced police-related measures. Ballotpedia tracked 20 such measures that appeared on the Nov. 3 ballot. All 20 measures were approved or were ahead pending the count of remaining ballots.

** 2. ELECTION RESULTS CERTIFICATION UPDATE

Each state has its own process and timetable for canvassing and certifying results in every election. Through Wednesday, Nov. 11, seven states had certified election results. One additional state, Mississippi, is certifying their results today, Nov. 13.

** 3. HERE'S THE LATEST BALLOT MEASURE RESULTS

Voters decided 120 statewide ballot measures in 32 states on Nov. 3. Of the 120 statewide measures, Ballotpedia has called 84 as approved and 28 as defeated. The remaining 8 are too close to call until more of the remaining ballots are counted.

** 4. A CLOSER LOOK AT THE MARGINS OF VICTORY IN THE 206 PIVOT COUNTIES

Pivot Counties are the 206 counties nationwide that Ballotpedia identified as having voted for Barack Obama (D) in 2008 and 2012 and Donald Trump (R) in 2016. 174 Pivot Counties voted for Trump again in 2020, and 20 voted for Biden. Twelve are too close to call.

** 5. AN EARLY LOOK AT PARTISAN BALANCE IN STATE LEGISLATURES

Partisan control changed in two state legislative chambers as a result of the 2020 elections—Republicans gained majorities in the New Hampshire House of Representatives and the New Hampshire state Senate. This is the fourth time this decade that the New Hampshire Legislature has changed party hands.
