Dear John,
The United States just elected the most pro-caregiving president in our history.
That’s right: President-elect Joe Biden and Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris are legit caregiving champions. They were the first major-party nominees to release a caregiving plan during the campaign, and their proposal would be a HUGE win for caregivers across the country.
The Biden-Harris plan reflects years of work by all of us in the Caring Majority. We’ve pushed elected officials to take caregiving seriously, and to think of it as a problem that has a collective policy solution. Because of you we’re closer than ever to winning important changes for caregiving families. But there’s still so much work to do.
Will you help support our work to hold President-elect Biden and his incoming administration accountable?
Maybe you didn’t hear about it during the campaign (we totally get that!) so you might not know why the Biden-Harris plan is so great for caregivers. But now that Biden and Harris will be taking office in January, we can take time to celebrate his caregiving plan -- and urge him to follow through -- all day long.
The Biden-Harris $775 billion caregiving plan will help states clear home care wait lists, expand home and community based care, recruit millions of new care workers and provide them with fair wages and the ability to collectively bargain, give refundable tax credits to families providing care, and a whole lot more.
As Biden said on the campaign trail, “the last few months have only underscored how vital it is for families and older Americans to have more home care and community care.”
President-Elect Biden is firmly on our side with this. But we can’t afford to let it get lost in the chaos of the transition and the new administration. We need to hold Biden to his word and ensure that caregiving is a priority in the new administration.
Make a donation today and help us get this ambitious care agenda over the finish line!
Thank you so much for your support.
With care,
Josie Kalipeni, Director of Policy and Federal Affairs
