John, it took a
while, but it's finally official:
I'm proud to share that six new voices for truth are heading to Washington
in January to serve alongside me. Congratulations to Cori Bush (MO-01),
Ben Ray Luján (NM-SEN), Ritchie Torres (NY-15), Jamaal Bowman (NY-16),
Mondaire Jones (NY-17), and Carolyn Bourdeaux (GA-07)!
I'm so proud of these candidates and their wins. But unfortunately, we
also faced some very tough losses this year.
While we were able to elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to the White
House—and make Donald Trump a one-term president—some of our Truth to
Power candidates lost their races to their corporate PAC-backed,
far-right, and well-connected opponents.
I'm not going to lie,
John. I was hoping that more than
just six Truth to Power candidates would win their races and fight by my
side in Congress. But it's always going to be an uphill battle to elect
candidates that aren't afraid to take a stand against special interests
and who make it clear that their priorities lie with the people.
We can't be discouraged by these losses; rather, we need to keep doing
exactly what we set out to do from the start. We must continue to work
hard to elect progressive lawmakers in the years to come who will stand up
to the corporate special interests, lobbyists, and corrupt politicians
that have dominated our government for far too long.

need to do—will you please contribute any amount to Truth to Power to

The 2020 election cycle may almost be behind us,
John, but Truth to Power is
building a movement that lasts beyond one election. We were never going to
quit after this year—no matter how our candidates fared.
And one thing is certain: we will always need more people in Congress and
the Senate who are willing to speak out on behalf of working-class people
over wealthy special interests.
We need legislators who will fight to protect Roe v. Wade and the
Affordable Care Act from Trump's extremist Supreme Court. We need
legislators who pay their fair share of taxes. We need legislators who
will fight tooth and nail for working families—even if it goes against the
wishes of wealthy donors and corporate PACs.
Plus, this work doesn't just stop after Election Day. Along with winning
races, we also need to elevate the voices of those who speak up for
working families and progressive priorities once they get in office. For
us to keep moving our country forward, that's the kind of fight we need to
be committed to fighting every day of every year, election or not.
[ [link removed] ]Please make a $5 contribution to help us elect and elevate more leaders
like Cori Bush, Jamaal Bowman, and Mondaire Jones—and let's keep our
movement going strong once they take office in January.
Thanks for being in this fight,
Katie Porter
