As of today, the coronavirus is getting worse in every single state in America.

There is no number you can look at that isn’t bad.

But I’m not here to give you a litany of facts about just how miserably Donald Trump has failed to protect the American people from this pandemic.

You know that.

And you know that the coronavirus is essentially out of control all around us.

What I do have for you today is a direct message to Donald Trump — who, for the time being, is still president:
It’s not fake news. It didn’t go away when the weather got “a little warmer.” It didn't go away when you boasted about recovering from it (thanks to the world-class government health care you received courtesy of American taxpayers). And it didn’t go away by Election Day (though the American people DID vote something — or, rather, someone — out on Election Day).

The coronavirus is real. You have made it far, far worse than it ever had to be. Now — ten months into this absolute, avoidable disaster — every day brings a new record for cases and hospitalizations. And it will almost certainly get worse still in the days and weeks ahead.

150,000 Americans are getting infected every day. Hospitals are running out of space, supplies, and even workers. Americans are dying by the tens of thousands. And their bodies are being piled up in refrigerated trucks because our nation’s morgues simply can’t handle this many deaths.

And what are you doing?

You are spending your time whining about the election, undermining the very concept of democracy with utterly baseless claims of fraud, subverting science at every turn, and playing golf.

Actually, maybe the best place for you to be right now IS on the golf course, hacking your way through the rough. Anything that gets you out of the way and lets public health experts do what needs to be done. So go play another round, Mr. President, and another one after that.
Add your name now to join me in conveying this message to Donald Trump.

Thanks for taking action.

Stay safe.

P.S. For half a century, Public Citizen has been advancing policies that put the needs of everyday Americans before the greed of billionaires and Big Business. That legacy of progress and that ongoing work could not matter more right now, as our nation transitions to a Joe Biden presidency that will be as progressive as we — you and Public Citizen, together — make it.

Of course, we’re also busy undoing damage the Trump administration has already done and watching out for whatever shenanigans a lame-duck Donald Trump tries to get away with. And — like so many nonprofits and small businesses — we continue to experience financial strain related to the coronavirus pandemic.

If you can, please make an emergency donation today to support the critical work we’re doing together or even join our popular Monthly Giving program. Thank you.
