Next week we're releasing our Voter Guide for the state elections. Join us at Picnic at the Polls on Saturday the 28th, where we'll be eating lots of fried chicken, red beans, and hearing from some progressive candidates for office.
We hope you join us! We've got a better world to build and we know it's going to take all of us to win.
*Green for Agriculture & Forestry*
In June, New Orleans DSA endorsed our first ever candidate for office. Marguerite Green is a longtime DSA member, Louisiana native and farmer running for State Commissioner of Agriculture and Forestry on a food, farms, climate and cannabis platform. DSA is all in for Margee and has been canvassing across South Louisiana! Join us at one of our canvasses and remember to vote Green on Oct 12th.
Upcoming DSA Events
Gimme a Brake (Light)!
Saturday, Sept. 21st, 11 - 4pm
1430 N. Dorgenois St
Each month, we replace brake lights for free for anyone who needs them in an attempt to reduce unnecessary police interactions. This month's clinic will start with some food to get us fueled up and a volunteer training from 11am-12pm at the triangle park at the intersection of N. Dorgenois and Bayou Road. Then we'll change brake lights from 1-4pm. No experience necessary, and you don't have to stay the whole time! Click here to sign up as a volunteer.
Solidarity in the Park Saturday, May 21st, 12 - 4pm
A.L. Davis Park, 2600 LaSalle St
This event will combine a health fair + debt clinic with free brake light changes. Come out for food, resources, a new brake light, a health screening, or just to hang! We are always looking for volunteers, no experience necessary and you don't have to stay the whole time. Email [email protected] to volunteer.
Picnic at the Polls Saturday, Sept. 28th, 11:30 - 1:30
Duncan Plaza, 343 Loyola Ave
Join DSA for a picnic at Duncan Plaza on the first day of early voting. We will be releasing our 2019 Voter Guide and hearing from progressive candidates for office. We'll have a bunch of fried chicken and vegan red beans + rice. Bring a side dish, dessert, cold drinks or just bring yourself! There will be music and activities for kids -- this is a family friendly event.
