From the Front Lines of Korea to the War for the Culture: An Interview with Veteran Curt Sawyer

By: Zachary Mettler

Once a year, America blows the whistle and calls a time out to take one day to say, “thank you” to the veterans who have honorably and nobly served our country.

To commemorate the occasion, The Daily Citizen spoke with Army veteran Curt Sawyer, who currently serves as Focus on the Family’s Senior Manager of Relationship Services.

Despite having little military background as a kid, Sawyer was accepted to and graduated from West Point in 1990. “I didn’t have a military background. My dad was in the Navy for a bit, but that just wasn’t part of our pedigree,” Sawyer said in an interview with The Daily Citizen.

Voter Fraud
Voter Fraud: The Election Process, What Can Go Wrong, and Previous Contested Elections and Incidents
By: Jeff Johnston

It’s almost a week since the election. On Saturday morning, November 6, with votes still being tallied in some key states, Decision Desk HQ, along with Vox, called the election for former Vice President Joe Biden. Other news outlets quickly followed suit.

While Biden and Senator Kamala Harris gave acceptance speeches, President Donald Trump continues to make accusations of election fraud. In a Twitter post the day after the acceptance speeches, he wrote, “We should look at the votes. We’re just beginning the tabulation stage. We should look at these allegations. We’re seeing a number of affidavits that there has been voter fraud. We have a history in this country of election problems.”
Georgia Announces Manual Recount in Presidential Race
Georgia Announces Manual Recount in Presidential Race

By: Bruce Hausknecht

On Wednesday, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced there would be a manual recount of all ballots cast in the presidential race. At the moment, former Vice President Joe Biden leads President Donald Trump by just over 14,000 votes.

“With the margin being so close, it will require a full, by-hand recount in each county,” Raffensperger told the press. “This will help build confidence. It will be an audit, a recount and a recanvass all at once. It will be a heavy lift but we will work with the counties to get this done in time for our state certification.” The state must certify its election results by November 20.

Is Fox News Moving in a New Direction?

When Fox News became the first network to project Joe Biden as the winner of the typically conservative state of Arizona, Trump administration officials and conservatives across the country called foul. In the end, Mr. Biden’s lead narrowed so extensively in the Grand Canyon state that regardless of the final outcome, the network’s call was undoubtedly premature.

So, why was the conservative station so eager to call the race – and was the decision a harbinger of a changing ideology at the network?

U.S. Divorce Rate Just Hit 50 Year Low
U.S. Divorce Rate Just Hit 50 Year Low, Further Drops Expected Despite COVID
By: Glenn T. Stanton

Scholars at the Institute for Family Studies are reporting that even while the divorce rate has been steadily declining over the last few decades in the United States, that decline has picked up speed of late and brand new data indicates it has finally hit its lowest point in 50 years. In the world of family studies, this is stunning news.

Dr. Wendy Wang, the director of research at the Institute for Family Studies, explained, “For every 1,000 marriages in the last year, only 14.9 ended in divorce.” This comes from the newly released American Community Survey data conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau. In 1970, 15 out of every 1,000 marriages ended in divorce that year. So fewer couples in the United States divorced in 2019 than did in 1970.
