Ahead of the green jackets heading to Augusta this weekend, the CBTU has had a full legislative agenda over these past few weeks whilst enjoying some return of summer weather to the nation's capital.

Our legislative focus continues to be on identifying the barriers to infrastructure spending at the federal, provincial and municipal level. You may recall, we sent a letter to Minister McKenna ([link removed]) on this issue and we know that more needs to be done. The fact is that private-sector construction capital investments are down significantly over last year, due to COVID-19. This is causing increased uncertainty in the market and we need public infrastructure dollars to start flowing to ensure we have a 2021 construction season. On November 17, I am moderating a panel focused on Community Benefit Agreements at the annual P3 Conference. Click here for more ([link removed]) .

At the recent Trades Women Build Nations ([link removed]) virtual conference last month, Lean In Virtual Circles for Tradeswomen was announced; a virtual mentorship program to connect and empower women in the trades. We want to ensure Canadian tradeswomen are aware of and have the opportunity to participate in this important program. Avant que les vestes vertes se dirigent vers Augusta ce week-end, la SMCC a eu un programme législatif complet au cours de ces dernières semaines tout en profitant d'un retour du temps estival dans la capitale nationale.

Notre objectif législatif continue à être d'identifier les obstacles aux dépenses d'infrastructure aux niveaux fédéral, provincial et municipal. Vous vous souviendrez peut-être que nous avons envoyé une lettre au ministre McKenna ([link removed]) à ce sujet et nous savons qu'il faut faire plus.
