This week The Fawcett Society announced that we are looking at how we can continue to lead the fight for equality into the future and how we can adapt to the changes around us. We have seen a positive reception to the news that we are undergoing talks with the Young Women's Trust about a potential merger and we look forward to keeping you updated on the progress.
Find your Voice

Our members have been given a fantastic opportunity to join an exclusive event to help you find your comedy voice. Featuring founder of Funny Women Lynne Parker, in discussion with comedian Shazia Mirza and influencer Sophie McCartney. This event is designed to help you leverage your knowledge and skills - and to provide you with an evening of laughs. You'll be treated to brand new comedy performances fresh from the recent Funny Women Comedy Crash Course. Interested? You've got to be a member to attend so if you want a ticket, become a member now.

The event is being held on Wednesday 18 November from 19:00 - 20:00.

AGM and Make Women Visible Event

Have you got your tickets for our conference event yet? This year the conference is being held online on Thursday 26 November - only members are able to attend our AGM but we will be hosting an event afterwards which is open to all. If you're interested in attending an AGM, find out how to become a member now.

The theme of this year is Make Women Visible as we continue to confront the inequalities that the coronavirus pandemic is creating and ask what this means for the future. The event will be held online from 18:00 - 19:30 and we will explore how we can make a gender equal future for women and girls.

We are delighted to announce our latest speakers. Joeli Brearley, founder of Pregnant then Screwed, and dynamic duo Kym Oliver and Jumoke Abdullahi founders of Triple Cripples will all be sharing their experiences on the panel discussion.

We will also hear from Polly Neate, CEO of Shelter and Trustee of the Young Women's Trust, and Wendy Irwin, Head of Equality and Diversity at the Royal College of Nurses and broadcaster and Fawcett trustee Ayesha Hazarika.

It's shaping up to be an unmissable event. Make sure you click the button below to sign up - sign ups close on Monday 23 November.

Equal Pay Day

Have you got your face mask ready? Last week we let you know our plans for Equal Pay Day on 20 November. We can't gather in person this year so instead we want to make sure we're making ourselves seen as we campaign for equal pay online.

We're asking you to make a face mask with the words Equal Pay on it and share your pictures on social media. You can make it in anyway you want - from sewing on the words, to painting them on, or even using a sticky note - to help you get the message across.

We're hiring

We're hiring for two exciting new vacancies to join our busy team. If you are passionate about equality and want to join the fight for women's rights, check out the jobs below.

This weekend is your last chance to apply for our Policy and Research Manager position. We're looking for someone with an analytical approach and can present complex information clearly. You'll have line-management responsibility and will represent Fawcett externally on a number of policy areas. Apply by Monday 16 November.

We are also looking for a Senior Policy and Public Affairs Officer. If you can show political sensitivity and awareness, engage a large number of stakeholders and present arguments and clearly communicate information then apply by Monday 23 November.

In solidarity and determination,
The Fawcett Society Team
