Coronavirus: National lockdown

Oldham, along with the rest of England, was placed under national restrictions on 5 November.

The council's website is up to date with all the latest information on what this means for you and your families, as well as how this is affecting some of the council's services. Click here to learn more.
Let’s Talk Budget
We want you to have your say on our budget proposals.

We’re looking to save more than £30million as a result of the continuing financial pressures of the Coronavirus and increased demand for services.

We’ve come up with a range of proposals to cut spending and change the way the council operates. These proposals are now available to view here
Other GM consultations
Residents and business owners across the borough are being urged to make sure they have their say in two major public consultations. Your comments and views can help shape the city-region’s plans to tackle air pollution as part of efforts to build a green recovery following the pandemic. Click here to have your say on Clean Air GM or here for the GM Taxi Standards.
Oldham Library temporarily closed
Oldham Library has temporarily closed after a member of staff tested positive for Coronavirus. A quarantine period and an enhanced clean of the building is taking place. We hope to reopen on Tuesday for click and collect books and essential PC use only. Crompton, Failsworth, Lees Delph remain open.
Alcohol Awareness Week 2020
Next week is Alcohol Awareness Week and this year’s theme is ‘Alcohol and mental health’. During the Covid pandemic, alcohol intake has risen dramatically as people have turned to it to relieve anxiety. Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing advice on social media and we’ve also provided details of where you can get help on our COVID – Alcohol Awareness webpage.
National Safeguarding Adults Week
It’s National Safeguarding Adults Week next week. Each year Safeguarding Adults Week provides an opportunity for everyone to get involved in a nationwide conversation about safeguarding. We believe that everyone, from all walks of life, should be aware of the role they can play in helping others to live safely and help to prevent people from experiencing abuse, neglect or exploitation. Keep your eye on our social media for stories and also see this good news story in the Oldham Times - https://bit.ly/35lrbyn
Enforcement
Our officers visited 330 business premises last weekend. We’d like to thank the majority, which are protecting their staff and the public by adhering to lockdown trading restrictions. However, during these visits, the Council had to close 12 businesses who were trading when they shouldn’t. We’ll continue to carry out inspections and will take against those who aren’t complying.
Testing centres
If you have symptoms of Coronavirus and need to get a test, we have testing centres open across the borough seven days a week. You must, however, book an appointment before you go. This appointment can only be booked through the government website here.
