Friends & Neighbors,

Now that this year's monumental election has come and gone, I'd like to take a moment to reflect.

First off, I want to say thank you to everyone who participated in our democracy by casting a ballot. With your help, we were able to keep New York's 12th Congressional District blue, as well as maintain control of the House majority. Across our state, we celebrated many victories and secured our place as a Democratic stronghold. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris claimed the biggest prize of the night and are already at work to unite our country and move it forward.

Despite Donald Trump's desperate attempts to disparage our democratic process and invalidate the voices of the American people, we cannot lose sight of the powerful impact our votes have. We may have some losses this election, but we should use these defeats as an opportunity to learn and to motivate us, rather than discourage us.

As we wait for the remaining Senate runoffs, we should be proud of the Democratic Party’s achievements this election, while also recognizing the work still to be done. I'm elated by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris' historic win, and I have every confidence that they will lead our nation in the right direction. I look forward to serving another term in Congress under their leadership.

The fight isn't over — and together, with your voice, we will continue to protect our democracy and uphold our nation's values of equality, justice, and freedom.

Thank you for everything you do,
Carolyn
