Friend,
NPR: “Twitter permanently suspended an account associated with former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon after he suggested in a video posted online Thursday that Dr. Anthony Fauci and FBI Director Christopher Wray should be beheaded.”
This is no surprise coming from Donald Trump’s former right-hand fascist. But what’s deeply unsettling is that, fueled by the frustration of Democrats taking the White House, Trump’s cronies are only ramping up the glorification of violence that they broadcast to their millions of followers. Devoted public servants like Dr. Fauci are at risk because of this fury. As Donald Trump Jr. recently tweeted, Republicans should “go to total war” over the election.
It’s true that the overwhelming majority of Americans said no to these last four years marked by white supremacy, xenophobia, misogyny, and tyranny. We owe it all to our grassroots activists who’ve worked tirelessly since day one to usher massive turnout to the polls and flip these seats.
But the most dangerous thing we could do is think that the fight is over and move on. Our electoral victory on November 3 isn’t going to cause this violent, right wing rhetoric to just slink away -- we’re in an ongoing fight that will last for years to come.
There’s no slowing down. This election showed that the people can overcome the influence of those whose sole motivation is to profit at the expense of the American public -- we must continue the momentum.
