In 2019, Tutu was born on a factory farm: a postmodern behemoth with up to 10,000 turkeys under one roof.

Early on, her beak and toes were cut off—a common practice to prevent overcrowded birds from picking at each other.

Like 46 million other turkeys, Tutu was set to be slaughtered for Thanksgiving. Luckily, she was rescued by a college student who wanted to feature her in an art project celebrating turkeys.

The project never took flight: Tutu wasn’t allowed to stay at the artist’s studio. Local news caught wind of the story, and Tutu was eventually brought to Farm Sanctuary. Nearly a year later, she’s grown to be healthy, outgoing, and curious ... an absolute “charmer.”

We get calls all the time to help animals like Tutu. And we can say yes, with your help.

Adopt Tutu today.

When you symbolically adopt Tutu, your one-time $35 donation provides veterinary treatment, nutritious food, and lifetime care to our rescued turkeys at Farm Sanctuary. It also helps resource our broader rescue, education, and advocacy efforts.

Tutu "The Charmer"

As a token of our gratitude, you’ll get a one-year subscription to Sanctuary, our deeply reported biannual print magazine. You’ll also receive your choice of a personalized digital or print certificate with Tutu’s photo and story.

FYI, this coming Monday, November 16th, is the last day to order a print certificate and have it arrive by Thanksgiving. Don’t miss out! It makes a beautiful and meaningful centerpiece for any Thanksgiving table. Afterwards, frame it or hang it on your fridge as a reminder of the very real difference you’re making.

PS—Want to make more of an impact? You can adopt our entire flock with a generous $150 gift. While these aren’t all of the turkeys that we house at Farm Sanctuary, we’re spotlighting five this year. Some have survived factory farms; others have come from backyard farmers just as neglectful. Today, all of them are safe, healthy, and comfortable, thanks to people like you.
