Friend,
What an election. The results have given us many reasons for hope and celebration:
First: Democracy works. Despite the false attacks on our election system, a record number of votes were cast and are still being counted. The American people convincingly chose President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris, and the Biden-Harris ticket's lead continues to grow.
Second: Kamala Harris made history as the first woman, first Black American, and first South Asian American elected vice president.
Third: Speaker Nancy Pelosi keeps the gavel. We held the House. While there were some tough losses, our broad and diverse Democratic caucus will retain control and continue to work for the best interest of the American people.
And lastly, the Senate is still up for grabs. We reelected Senators Jeanne Shaheen, Tina Smith, and Gary Peters in competitive purple states. We helped Mark Kelly in Arizona and John Hickenlooper in Colorado flip seats blue. And we can still take control of the U.S. Senate on January 5th, when both Senate seats in Georgia -- a state that Joe Biden carried -- hold run-off elections (you can chip in here to help fund those fights).
Thank you for standing with me in the fight to take back our country. I'm so glad to have you by my side.
Sincerely,
Maria Cantwell
U.S. Senator
