Doctors Without Borders runs one of the last remaining clinics offering patient care to Al-Hol camp’s 65,400 residents—including 1,900 people who are especially vulnerable to COVID-19. More than 90 percent of the camp’s residents are women and children.
There is a risk that the coronavirus could spread in the overcrowded camp, where residents typically live in tents with around six other people crammed inside. They lack clean water and sanitation services. Our teams are doing everything they can to provide medical care to camp residents while working to prevent the spread of COVID-19, but they urgently need your help in Al-Hol and other projects serving vulnerable communities around the world.
While our teams are responding to the medical needs in Al-Hol, Doctors Without Borders is also providing humanitarian assistance in other parts of northeast Syria. In the city of Raqqa, we support free access to primary and secondary health care—and are also assisting two medical facilities with their response to the growing number of COVID-19 cases.
We can’t let COVID-19 exacerbate the health care crisis in northeast Syria.
The decision you make in the next 48 hours will have a massive impact on the countless lives of vulnerable people everywhere. Start your monthly gift today.
