Dear John,
When I think about the election victories we are celebrating this week, I am struck again by how good progress feels. I believe Justice Ginsburg is proud of us right now. She knew, as I do: when women win, change is inevitable. Today the Ms. Foundation is launching our “When Women Win” campaign to raise the resources we need to make sure feminist leaders keep winning in the critical months and years ahead.
Imagine how different today would be if:
- Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was not able to go to law school
- Vice President-elect Kamala Harris decided against running for national office
- Black Lives Matter founders Patrisse Cullors, Opal Tometi, and Alicia Garza could not gather and organize together
- Tarana Burke never started the #MeToo movement
- Lakota activist Tokata Iron Eyes never called global attention to the fight for Indigenous land and water rights at Standing Rock
That’s why the Ms. Foundation for Women has launched our “When Women Win” campaign. We are raising $100,000 by November 30, 2020 to ensure that all women and girls–especially Black, Indigenous, people of color, transgender, and gender-nonconforming folks–continue to win.
The Ms. Foundation for Women funds women-led, grassroots organizations that work 24/7 for their communities. We support a network of feminist leaders and organizations fighting for racial and gender equity in the most under-resourced regions of the country. We respond to crises like the coronavirus pandemic and provide consistent, sustainable, yearly support so our leaders can make even bigger leaps forward.
In November we will share stories about how grassroots leaders are winning victories that save lives and transform futures. And we will challenge you to back them up. Stand with today’s feminist changemakers.
Your gift, and mine, will go directly into the hands of women who are shaping our future right now. I hope you will join me.
In solidarity,
Teresa C. Younger, President & CEO
P.S. Support grassroots leaders today!
