Dear John,

You are invited to the online screening premiere of A Cops And Robbers Story, a documentary telling the true story of former crack cocaine dealer turned decorated NYPD officer Deputy Inspector Corey Pegues (Ret.).

Deputy Inspector Pegues (Ret.) got involved in street life at age 13, selling drugs and running with a gang. His life was headed toward prison or an early death on the streets of NYC, another casualty of the illegal drug trade. Following the birth of his son, Pegues turned his life around. (Aptly, Corey, Jr. plays his father in A Cops and Robbers Story.) Pegues escaped the streets by joining the Army. When he returned from active duty, he was hired by the NYPD and climbed the ranks quickly. After 21 years with the department, Pegues retired as Deputy Inspector, Commanding Officer, of the 67th Precinct, one of the most violent in NYC.

Deputy Inspector Corey Pegues (Ret.) is a speaker for LEAP, dedicating his time to fixing the broken justice system by  addressing issues including drug policy, racial disparity in the justice system, community policing, crime prevention programs, and the collateral consequences of arrest and incarceration.

The film is available now on Doc NYC, and runs through November 19th. Get your tickets here for only $12. Don’t miss this fascinating story of redemption and inspiration.

Donate now to keep LEAP recruiting police with the experience to know that our justice system needs to change.

In Solidarity,

Major Neill Franklin (Ret.)
