Tell Congress:
"No more conflicts of interest that benefit big business! No more corporate appointees to the Executive Branch!"
|
John,
Donald Trump’s administration appointed 281 lobbyists in their first 3 years in office―4 times more than President Obama appointed over his first 6 years.1 Despite all of Trump's hype about "draining the swamp," he did exactly the opposite.
Let's make sure this pattern of corporate control of our government ends when the Trump administration does. It’s time to meet the historic needs of the moment―and that means rejecting corporate lobbyists from holding Cabinet positions. We need an administration that puts the American people first―that means hiring from a pool of people who didn’t have a hand in creating the broken economy we’re living in now.
Sign the petition! Demand that the U.S. Senate not confirm any more corporate lobbyists—in the upcoming Biden-Harris administration or any future administration.
Corporate appointees give big business vast power within our government—interpreting and enforcing the law. That’s power that impacts our communities and our families. That's unacceptable. After all, our government should be run by "We the people," not corporate hacks.
And the American people, regardless of political party, overwhelmingly agree.
Last month, Congressional progressive leaders, led by Rep. Raúl Grijalva of Arizona, sent a letter to Senate leadership calling for opposition to Senate confirmation of corporate lobbyists and executives in the Cabinet and in top positions in government agencies. The jockeying for power in the Biden-Harris administration has already started―and it remains an open question whether corporations will continue to run roughshod over working people, or if the new administration will fight for us.
Add your name! Demand an end to the disgusting practice of giving corporate lobbyists Cabinet positions or top positions throughout OUR government.
We must fight to reduce the power of corporations in our government—and it starts with rejecting appointees with direct ties to big business. We must hold all administrations to the same anti-corruption standard—and that starts with the Biden-Harris administration.
Together, let’s make sure the Senate opposes the confirmation of any nominee to an executive branch position who is currently or has been a lobbyist for any corporate client or officer for a private corporation, in this or any future administration.
Thank you for all you do to fight to expand, never cut, Social Security and to ensure politicians are fighting for the priorities of working people and seniors throughout our country.
