Hi there,

Do you remember the Republican senator who came under fire for benefiting from insider trading after she received a private congressional briefing on the coronavirus in January?

That was Kelly Loeffler. If she holds onto Georgia's junior Senate seat, she won't just be rewarded for all her wrongdoing -- she could be the 51st senator Republicans need to keep control in the chamber next year.

The good news is we can beat her. Democratic challenger Raphael Warnock had hundreds of thousands more votes than Loeffler on election night -- but, because there was a third candidate in the race and Warnock didn't get more than 50% of the vote, we're now headed for a runoff.

This special election could decide whether Mitch McConnell stays Senate Majority Leader or loses his title. As you can imagine, the race is receiving all kinds of attention from right-wing special interest groups and mega-donors. They're doing everything they can to keep a Democrat who won more votes from beating a Republican who betrayed her constituents. Surprise, surprise.

We cut checks left and right trying to boost Democrats before Election Day. Now that Election Day is over, we need to focus our efforts on the races that matter the most. This one, which could literally decide the future of Congress, could be the most crucial. But this time, Warnock won't have another Republican in the race to help split the vote from Loeffler. Warnock could lose. We could lose our one shot to take back the Senate, Congress, and a progressive agenda for the next term.

Friend, this race could decide whether the next president will govern alongside a Democratic Congress pushing for progressive values or a divided legislature that will struggle to get anything done. I know you're tired -- I'm beat, too. But we need to find our second (or maybe third) wind, muster the strength to lift up our Democratic ally, and seal the Senate for the Democrats in 2021.
