Part 2: Love as a Transformative Force
------------------------------------------------------------

** TONIGHT, November 12, 2020
6 — 7:30PM
------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Friend,

The power of music and love go hand-in-hand as they can plant inside of us seeds of change, which is why our Evening Over Violence Virtual Series pairs crucial conversations along with inspiring performances from talented musicians and vocalists who use their gifts to help transform our world. The Chican@ rock band from East Los Angeles, Quetzal, is no exception and they will grace us TONIGHT with a special performance.

Formed with the goal of creating good music that tells the social, cultural, political and musical stories of people in struggle, Quetzal was born during a time when Los Angeles was experiencing the 1992 uprising and 1994 Proposition 187 campaign, whose goal was to deny public and medical services to undocumented immigrants. Since then, the group continues to make music that raises important questions, uplifts powerful narratives and has its members remain musically, culturally and politically active. Nina Simone once said that an artist’s duty is to reflect the times and Quetzal has faced this responsibility consistently and courageously.

Join us TONIGHT as we share our virtual stage with Quetzal as they gift us with special performances. We hope you can join us in bearing witness.
