Regaining a Democratic majority in the Senate is essential if we are going to pass our progressive agenda.

Friends -

Let me thank you again for all of your efforts in helping to defeat Donald Trump and making Joe Biden our next president. This was the most important election in the modern history of America. Together, we came forward, did what we had to do, and we won.

Now, I wish that I could tell you that the election season was over. It's not. As I'm sure you are aware, there are going to be enormously important runoff elections in Georgia on January 5, 2021.

These runoff elections will determine which party controls the Senate. And gaining a Democratic majority is essential if we are going to put forth a progressive agenda that includes health care as a right, a Green New Deal, a living wage of $15 an hour, criminal justice reform and so many other important issues.

I am writing now to ask you to contribute to Rev. Raphael Warnock, a strong progressive, who has an excellent chance to win. Rev. Warnock is senior pastor of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia — Martin Luther King Jr.'s former congregation. He is running on a platform of universal health care, workers' rights and protecting our environment.

Winning in Georgia is going to require a massive voter turnout and organizing effort, something that Rev. Warnock's campaign is more than capable of doing if it is adequately funded.

That is why I am asking you directly:

Can you split a $2.70 contribution between Rev. Raphael Warnock's campaign and our campaign today? Every contribution will help win a Democratic majority in the Senate. This is important.

This is going to be a tough runoff election in Georgia. There's no doubt about it. But if we all come together, we have a chance to send Rev. Warnock and Jon Ossoff to the Senate and regain a Democratic majority.

If we do that, we will be able to advance the most progressive agenda this country has seen since the 1930s. Thank you for adding a contribution today — if you can afford it — to make that possible.

In solidarity,

Bernie Sanders
