Today we're welcoming a brand new writer, Joanna Miller, to the OP team. Joanna will be sharing her experiences starting a homestead from scratch on a tight budget. Please give her a warm welcome - she has so much wonderful advice to add.

With all the supply chain issues, a lot more people are feeling the urge to homestead and "live off the land." Homesteading looks like frolicking outside all day and sitting down to a delicious scratch-cooked, home-raised meal in the evening. Don't be fooled by romantic notions.

It's wonderful but there's a LOT more to it than that. Here's some honest advice from Joanna before you fully commit yourself to this lifestyle.

Having done some homesteading myself, I can affirm that everything she says is absolutely true. For those of you with experience, share that in the comments. For those of you considering, please, ask some questions - not only can we talk in the comments, but you may also inspire future articles on these topics.
