Personally Speaking: Living My Childhood Dream Hello John, We are excited to share with you the fifth Personally Speaking blog in our 12-part series of staff stories. This week’s blog is from our research assistant, Kelli South. Kelli’s passion for helping others and her interest in public health brought her to the Treatment Advocacy Center after receiving her master’s degree in public policy from American University in December 2019. As the research assistant, Kelli supports the Treatment Advocacy Center’s efforts to make research surrounding severe mental illness accessible to the public. For Kelli, her work is personal. As a family member of someone with substance use disorder, Kelli knows what it’s like to watch a loved one struggle. She writes in her blog, “while the illnesses are different in many ways, the pain, uncertainty and helplessness that plagues the family of someone with severe mental illness or substance use disorder are the same.” We know that for you, this work is personal, too. To help us continue fighting to change the system, make a donation here. Please give to the Treatment Advocacy Center today. Thank you.
