Dear John,
Last week, we received messages from so many of you concerned about a phone call you received. It's what's called a "push poll"; it asks for a voter's opinion and then plants information on candidates (including me) in a bid to diminish that voter's opinion of the candidate.
This kind of tactic isn't honest. It doesn't give context to the listener — not to mention that it doesn't mention who is behind the "poll." I truly believe that elected officials ought to be held to a higher standard.
That's why this campaign is squarely focused on the community. I refuse to compromise my values and vision for a healthy and thriving Portland for all residents simply in the interest of winning. Portland voters deserve campaigns that elevate the issues, not divisive tactics in the form of push polls, narrow interest activism, and negativity.
Want something different? Contribute to my campaign today, before tomorrow's big fundraising deadline. This is a vitally important deadline for this campaign and how our viability will be assessed by the press and public. I have a goal of raising $5,000 before then. Any amount helps.
