Friend,

For months the election has consumed the lives of most of us living in the United States as we anxiously fought to reclaim the soul of our nation. Although everyone felt the weight of what was at stake with the prospect of another Donald Trump presidency, immigrants were tasked with a particular set of burdens as many understood firsthand the tragedy that would ensue if the administration was allowed to continue its campaign of implementing cruel and inhumane immigration policies. Ever since he came down the escalator in 2015, Donald Trump has taken a wrecking ball to the Statue of Liberty, dehumanizing and attacking immigrants at every turn.

Last week, the American people finally had their chance to speak out and chose to reject the xenophobic and racist campaign that will forever mark the era of Donald Trump in America.

This election was not easy as many volunteers and campaign workers suspended their lives for months. To those who stood in solidarity with the millions of undocumented immigrants, Dreamers and TPS holders, and refugees and asylum seekers, we will forever be grateful.

As we learned from our 2020 American Election Eve Poll, we also know that the Biden/Harris victory was powered by the turnout and support of African American, Latino and AAPI voters who showed up in unprecedented numbers to save our democracy and the American immigration system. [link removed]

This election means so much to so many, but it was a special victory for immigrants and their families as it provided a new ray of hope to those who have spent the past four years relentlessly pushing back against Donald Trump's policies.

From watching the first Black/South Asian woman who is the daughter of immigrants give her victory speech as Vice President-elect, to remembering the promises made by Joe Biden about ending Trump's most abhorrent policies, it was an emotional time for many as the results finally rolled in.

As we continue our fight to reclaim the Senate, introduce more progressive policies that amount to actual migrant justice, and work to hold the new administration accountable, it is also important to acknowledge the moment and thank those who made this step towards progress possible.

Although the irreparable damage done by Donald Trump and Stephen Miller is undeniable, the Biden-Harris administration and the American people are now ready to turn the page on the cruelty of the Trump era and embrace our founding creed of E Pluribus Unum - Out of Many, One.

The long descent has ended. And the monumental task of rebuilding and reuniting America begins.

Thank you for your work, support, and willingness to stand up for immigrants and immigrant families in our country.

Sincerely,

Victoria Slatton, Esq.
